Arcoro held its second annual Arizona Construction Workforce Management Summit on Oct. 17, 2023, in Phoenix, Ariz. The summit invited area contractors to listen and engage with speakers and panelists about the workforce management challenges facing the industry today.

The summit included two keynote speakers as well as four different breakout sessions.

Engaging Speakers Discuss Hot Topics

Ken Simonson, Chief Economist for Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), delivered a keynote address discussing the economic forecast for the construction industry into 2024. Some of the biggest takeaways from his address were that economic recovery should continue but the risk of recession remains and finding workers will be a challenge longer than rising material costs or supply chain disruptions.

LV Hanson, Head of People & Culture for Frampton Construction, gave an interactive keynote address about the importance of company culture. He gave attendees maps and compasses to demonstrate the similarities between using these tools and developing company culture: you need to orientate your tools, figure out your starting point and forecast challenges.

Breakout sessions addressed some of the biggest challenges and hurdles construction firms are currently facing: finding candidates, processing construction payroll, managing a diverse, multigenerational workforce and how to win the wage wars with benefits and culture. Attendees were able to ask presenters and panelists questions about each topic, generating in-depth discussions.

Arcoro Launches Elevate Morning Session

The 2023 Arizona Construction Workforce Management Summit also included a new morning session for Arcoro customers called Elevate. The session gave Arcoro and ExakTime customers information about how to best use their products and future improvements.

Arcoro staff outlined best practices for using Arcoro’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Onboarding, Core HR and ExakTime modules, including reviewing new features. Customers were also asked to choose which features they’d like to see developed in the future.

Some of the planned improvements already in the works include:

  • Enhanced applicant communication features in the ATS plus upgrades to integrations with the Core HR module. More document uploading capabilities, state tax configurability and enhanced control of the Electronic Filing Cabinet in Onboarding.
  • Increased data analytics, additional new hire processing flexibility and additional workflows in Core HR.
